PS4 exklusivt dominerar med totalt 22 nomineringar
The Last of Us del 2 samlade tio nomineringar, inklusive en Game of the Year-nod, för att leda alla nominerade till The Game Awards 2020, som tillkännagavs på onsdagen. De fem andra videospel som tappades för GOTY hade också nomineringar i flera kategorier, inklusive indie-hit Hades, med totalt nio.
Hades, The Last of Us Part 2, Ghost of Tsushima och Final Fantasy 7 Remake var alla nominerade till GOTY liksom alla tre stora utvecklingskategorier: spelriktning, berättelse och konstriktning. De andra två GOTY-nominerade, Doom Eternal och Animal Crossing: New Horizons (som för övrigt lanserades samma datum) tog fyra respektive tre nomineringar.
Sammanlagt 75 olika spel nominerades i 23 kategorier. Sony Interactive Entertainment är den mest nominerade utgivaren och plockar upp 22. The Game Awards sa att det är andra plats för den rekordinställning 23 som Nintendo fick 2017.
Game Awards sänds den 10 december 2020 på flera livestreamingtjänster och plattformar (i ett pressmeddelande står det totalt 45). Showen kommer att sändas i virtuellt format i år på grund av pandemibegränsningar, med segment som direktsänds från Hollywood, Londons historiska Abbey Road Studios och andra städer. Värd Geoff Keighley sa i onsdagens tillkännagivande att The Game Awards Symphony också skulle visas.
